Article 25 - Japan Coast Guard Law

I briefly studies Japan Coast Guard:

They were launched in 1948, just after the WWII.

Basically avoide illegal entry from Korea where Cholera was spread.

Allied force, espcially USCG supported launch JCG at that time.

Article 25 of Japan Coast Guard Law was forced by Allied force as special provision.

(Precaution to be Taken in Construction of the Law)

Article 25.

Nothing contained in this Law shall be construed to permit the Japan Coast Guard or its personnel to be trained or organized as a military establishment or to function as such.

However, currently this article keep legitimacy of JCG as law enforcement, which distinct from Japanese Navy.

This article may equivalent to Posse Comitatus Act. of US.

According to my Professor Akio Watanabe (IR). study of JCG is backward compared to the Defence Force of Japan.
