For me, the maritime security of Palau, which I have been cultivating alone since 2008, takes precedence over the Solomon Islands. You all misunderstand, but Yohei Sasakawa and the Nippon Foundation have done nothing but shipbuilding interests and greed for honor, and they know nothing about it. So I am in the middle of cleaning up the mess.
Okay, we cannot leave Palau, Micronesia, and the Pacific to the Japan Coast Guard, a greedy, self-protective organization that is not linked to the Japan-U.S. alliance.
Fortunately, the Ministry of Defense contacted me in 2017. Prior to that, the U.S. Defense Department and other U.S. government agencies had made inquiries to me.
The arrival in Palau on August 8-9, 2022, by Vice Minister of Defense Oniki, Joint Chiefs of Staff Yamazaki, and others, after leaving the Solomon Islands, was the result of that contact. This result should be the next step. In May of this year, the Palauan government requested cooperation in EEZ and continental shelf monitoring when Foreign Minister Hayashi arrived in Palau. In response to the Palauan government's request, I called MPs Furuya, Eto, Sonoura, Sato, and others who are interested in Pacific island countries and asked for their cooperation. I am sure that their voices were heard by the Ministry of Defense. I sincerely hope that the Japan-Palau Security Agreement will be signed.
私にとっては、ソロモン諸島よりも2008年から一人で仕込んできたパラオの海洋安全保障が優先する。みなさん誤解されていますが、笹川陽平も、日本財団も造船利権と名誉欲だけで何もしていない、何も知らないのです。だから私が今尻拭いをしている最中です。
さて、日米同盟に繋がらない、保身の塊である海保にパラオを、ミクロネシアを、太平洋を任せておくわけにはいかないのである。
幸い、防衛省から当方に連絡があったのが2017年。それ以前に米軍はじめ米国の政府機関からお当方の照会があった。
2022年8月8−9日、ソロモン諸島を後にした鬼木防衛副大臣・山崎統合幕僚長他一行がパラオ入りはその結果である。この結果はさらに次のステップとなるはずだ。今年5月パラオ入りした林外相にパラオ政府からEEZと大陸棚監視協力要請が出された。パラオ政府の要請を受け、太平洋島嶼国に関心の高い、古屋議員、衛藤議員、薗浦議員、佐藤議員らに私は電話で協力を依頼したのである。その声は防衛省に届いたであろう。日本パラオ安全保障協定が締結されることを心から期待する。
